Research Interests

I am interested in impression management and impression formation, specifically in the area of communication. My PhD research examined the issue of how we are viewed by observers when talking about others. I am now engaged in research which looks at communicative behaviours in a social context; that of gossip behaviour. Little quantitative research has been conducted on this area, despite the frequency with which we engage in this behaviour. Specifically I am interested in links between informal communicative behaviour and wellbeing, and evidence for, and effects of, functional gossip behaviour.
