Research Interests

My research interests cover a range of areas:

Disability and Poverty in the Global South: interactions and dynamics, with a special focus on Latin America

The application of post and neocolonial approaches and theories and Critical Disability Studies (CDS) to the study of disability across cultures

Colonialism and coloniality

Critique of Western research methods and research ethics across cultures

Decolonizing methodologies and practice

Deconstructing and challenging Western and other dominant epistemologies and practices across spaces and places.

Forced/irregular migration, conflict, gender, race and ethnicity, poverty and other intersectionalities

The use of visual art and new forms of digital media in exploring, communicating and challenging deprivation, marginalisation, disablism and oppression.

Interactions between theory and practice as a project of praxis and decolonizing pedagogy
