Keith BatesVisiting Research Fellow

Keith is currently Head of Employment at the Foundation for People with Learning Disabilities leading a portfolio of research and development including the pioneering In Business programme, supporting people with a learning disability to explore the option of self-employment and small business ownership. It is through this work that Keith developed his Rapid Enterprise Development (RED) work.

Supporting a number of local authorities and councils across the UK to develop their employment work, focusing on capacity and quality, he works nationally to build a better infrastructure for supported employment and is actively involved in a number of innovative research programmes with University partners.

He splits his time between working at the Foundation and running a development consultancy and a number of social enterprises in the UK that seek to create employment opportunities or increase capacity in good quality support. These include the Job Coaching Co-operative Sixteen16 and Boss employment CIC

He continues to develop new approaches and initiatives to respond to national and international challenges to developing and improving employment options for disabled people.

Keith is a holder of the Queens Award for Enterprise Promotion.
