Research Interests

Transnational migration (particularly to economic migrants, issues around welfare at work, social cohesion, gender and migration, mental well being of migrants and emotions and migration). Dr Lee-Treweek's research in this area has particularly focused upon small town and rural migration, which complements other work going on in urban centres.

The study of racism in community settings (experiences of black and minority ethnic communities in the UK)

Abuse Studies (especially abuse by, and of, health and welfare occupations and professions, abuse of older people and community and neighbourhood based forms of abuse)

Sociology of health and illness (the development of complementary and alternative medicine; therapeutic relationships; ethics and responsibilities)

Sociology of emotions

Qualitative methods and ethical issues in the Social Sciences, particularly risk to the researcher and privacy in research.

2010 'Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults in Cheshire East: a study of professionals understandings and practice'. Cheshire East Link. £5700.

2010, partnership between the Cheshire, Halton and Warrington Race and Equality Centre (CHAWREC) and the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies, MMU Cheshire, 'Racism in Cheshire High Schools'. A participatory action research study to examine prevalence and nature of race and ethnicity issues in Cheshire and build capacity within CHAWREC to undertake research. Big Lottery Research Programme, £340,000.
